Food for Thought

During COVID-19 lockdown measures, many families struggled to put food on the table. In response, ADRA distributed grocery gift cards and food packs to over 1000 kiwi families in need.

One of our amazing volunteers shared their experience of delivering food packs to vulnerable kiwi families:

“The *Wilson family is used to experiencing hardship. In the past, both parents have been homeless and without income, the family knows what it is like to be without.

The family had just finished discussing how they were going to get some food so they could eat that night. They had run out of food and Work and Income New Zealand (WINZ) was also now closed for the day.

Just after this conversation we knocked on the door with a grocery gift card. They were so grateful at the perfect timing of our arrival.

This reminded me of a bible verse found in Matthew 26:6

Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to Him than they are?

God cares about each of us, and also uses us, if we allow Him, to care for others.

As we adjust to our new normal, let’s keep being kind and keep caring for others.”
