LEBANON - Emergency Update

An emergency far from over. Since fighting escalated across Lebanon in March 2026, hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced and returned to homes they can’t yet rebuild. Through the ADRA network, ADRA New Zealand is helping fund a food e-card response reaching families in Beirut and Mount Lebanon.

Current Situation in Lebanon

Fresh airstrikes and continued military activity are still triggering new displacement. For most families, returning home means returnin to damaged housing, water systems and health services – these ongoing challenges are keeping communities in crisis.

How is ADRA Responding?

BRIDGE – short for Basic Relief for Internally Displaced Groups in Emergencies, is ADRA’s food security response for people affected by the conflict escalation in Lebanon since March 2026. Delivered through the ADRA network and implemented by ADRA in partnership with Lebanon’s Ministry of Social Affairs, the project provides restricted food e-cards worth USD 25 per person per month (capped at USD 125 per household) to 4,925 crisis-affected people in Beirut and Baabda District, Mount Lebanon – 3,940 of them internally displaced and 985 from host communities. BRIDGE is about giving families a fast, dignified way to access food on their own terms, rather than relying on in-kind handouts, at a time when displacement, damaged infrastructure and rising prices have put nutritious food out of reach for so many.

Thank You

BRIDGE is one of many emergency responses ADRA New Zealand is able to support because of the generosity of our supporters to the Disaster and Emergency Fund. Your ongoing contributions mean that when a crisis like Lebanon’s unfolds, we don’t have to wait to act, we can respond immediately through the ADRA network, reaching families with food, and hope when they need it most. As BRIDGE moves into its final transfer cycle and monitoring phase, and as other emergencies continue to emerge around the world, thank you for making this work possible. Your support to the fund is what allows ADRA to stand alongside communities in crisis, wherever and whenever they need us.
