!@(uploads/241.jpg popimg: “Tsunami Donation”)According to latest reports, emergency aid has arrived in Honiara and other parts of the Solomon Islands to help meet the most urgent humanitarian needs. The New Zealand Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) has been able to help meet these needs through great financial support from Church donors.
With funds from the government and the recent ADRA Disaster Appeal, ADRA is providing essential household items which include plates, cutleries, bush knife, spade, crowbar, hammer and nails to assist with rebuilding. The ADRA Network in the South Pacific Division intends to respond further with a rehabilitative intervention targeting water and sanitation needs of the communities affected by the Tsunami.
Additionally, ADRA New Zealand is working with ADRA Solomon Islands and the New Zealand SDA Education Department to develop a school rehabilitation program where school supplies will be donated to assist in rebuilding schools that were destroyed.
To enable ADRA New Zealand continue to respond to this disaster, donations can be made by marking an envelope “Solomon Islands Tsunami” or “ADRA Disaster Appeal” and placing it in your local church offering. Alternatively, you can phone the ADRA New Zealand office on 0800 4999 111.
